Bob Muth developed a passion for farms early in life. Spending his childhood on a farm, he helped raise crops with his father. After a brief stint working as a cooperative extension agent in South Carolina after college, Muth returned home to New Jersey to complete his Master's Degree.

Muth explains, "One day, I looked out the window and realized I'd rather be sitting on a tractor than working in a lab, and I've never been back....I hear all this gloom and doom about farming, but I like where I am and I wouldn't change a thing about how I got here."

In 1990, Muth decided to commit to farming full-time, and in 1991, he married Leda. Bob and Leda worked together to expand their farm and now have over 118 acres in production. The Muth farm is dedicated to substainable practices and utilizing organic methods. Bob and Leda also run a community support agriculture (CSA) system. Started in 2001 with 30 families, the enterprise has grown to over 300 families. Members of the CSA can pick up produce and flowers once a week throughout the farm's 16 week harvest season.

In 1996, Bob and Leda's farm was designated as a stop on Cooperative Extension's Northeast Region Sustainable Agriculture Research and Extension (NE-SARE) Program tour. NE-SARE was so impressed that they invited Bob to serve on their Technical Committe. For three years, he acted as a grant application reviewer and farmer advisor. Soon after, he was elected to the Administrative Council and helped decide funding and grant awards.

Bob has also worked extensively with the Rutgers Cooperation Extension. He has worked with its branches in Gloucester County and Cumberland County and has served on its Pepper and Tomato Research Advisory Committee.

Additionally, Bob has presented at a number of educational programs for farmers. He has served as keynote speaker for events hosted by the New Jersey Annual Vegetable Meeting, the New York State Vegetable Meeting, the New England Vegetable and Berry Conference, and the Delaware/Maryland Vegetable Meeting.

In 2007, Bob and Leda were presented with the Mid-Atlantic Master Farmer Award. The award has been described as the Academy Awards' Lifetime Achievement Award in Agriculture.
